About the Band

Washington DC-based band, Mission South, is a group with roots planted firmly in both past and present.  Members Dan Miller (guitar/vocals), John Beck (bass/vocals) and Max Harwood (drums) met in the fourth grade and grew up within walking distance of each other’s homes. The boys remained best friends throughout grade school, making music together all the while, but it was not until 2012 that the three officially joined forces under the name Mission South.

The band’s undeniable chemistry can be felt in their music, which much like their story, bridges the gap between old and new.  On their sophomore EP, “Migration Vol. 2,” Mission South effortlessly fuses classic blues and folk styles with more modern colors and tones, for a sound that is raw, soulful, and adventurous.  The three-part “Migration” series (“Vol. 3″ scheduled for release in Summer 2014) will capture Mission South’s journey as they transform a childhood dream into a professional endeavor, all the while, never forgetting their roots.

“Mission South have already performed in such hot spots as the 9:30 Club in D.C. and The Fox Theatre in Boulder, CO…Let me remind you – they graduated college last year. Where were you a year after college? I know where I was, and it wasn’t living out my dreams and playing music to the masses!”
- The Huffington Post’s Jon Chattman

“To listen to Mission to be transported via rumbling guitars and Miller’s smoky-tinged voice to a slow, hot summer night”
- Washingtonian

“The band’s unique blend of strong songwriting, powerful vocals, and captivating live performances, has had many of D.C.’s favorite local acts singing their praises.  With each of its members having just hit the ripe age of 21, this band is budding with talent that many are touting as the next big act to emerge from the local scene.”
- OnTap Magazine

“Awesome work guys.  “Saint” is my favorite (bitches love a ballad)”
- Catherine Popper, bassist for Jack White, Ryan Adams, and Grace Potter, on “Vol. 2”
